Jim is an AV rated business lawyer with over thirty years of business law experience. Jim draws on his personal business experiences and on longtime relationships with many business clients to bring an innovative and refreshing perspective to the management of risks for Wayzata Law Group business clients.

His business experience started during law school when Jim was an officer and shareholder of a wholesale distribution company. He continued in business by serving four years as CEO of a wireless communications company while building his legal practice. Wayzata Law Group is served well by Jim’s business savvy as he has been managing partner and President from the firm’s inception.

From limited liability company start-ups to multi-million dollar mergers and acquisitions, Jim has helped hundreds of business clients fulfill their business dreams. Jim’s success as a lawyer stems from his refusal to say “no” to a client’s stated objective. Instead, he works hard to identify and explain risks and options to his clients so that together they may determine the appropriate action.

A proud resident of the Western Twin Cities community, Jim has been an active member of his church’s parish council, the local school board, and Rotary International for more than 20 years. He has also been active in the American Bar Association, the Minnesota State Bar Association, and the Hennepin County Bar Association. Jim is a member of the Business Section, Litigation Section, Labor and Employment Law Section, and Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association and similar sections at the State and County level. Jim also served for ten years as a member of the Ethics Committee of the Hennepin County Bar Association.
