John M. Huberty is a native Minnesotan who grew up in Elk River, and a six-year veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Huberty served as a sonar technician aboard USS John Rodgers (DD-983) and was awarded numerous commendations, including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Battle ‘E’, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, and The Admiral John H. Sides Perpetual Award for Excellence in the Sonar Profession.
After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Huberty attended the University of Minnesota-Morris for three years where he earned degrees in economics and history. Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Huberty clerked for the Honorable Thomas S Stringer, Judge of District Court, Ottertail County. His work was instrumental in achieving dismissals and acquittals in several high profile cases, including a case arising from the 2003 Minnesota Vikings Arctic Blast weekend on Mille Lacs Lake and the prosecution by the Anoka County Attorney’s Office of a prominent Twin Cities pediatrician accused of improper acts with patients. Mr. Huberty has also been praised by fellow members of the Bar for his outstanding appellate work in the state courts.

Goes above and beyond
I had an unemployment appeal coming up and scheduled a free consultation with John. He was very accommodating in getting the consultation scheduled in a timely manner. During the consultation he was very thorough in reviewing the facts of the case and giving an honest assessment of the chance of ...

Honest advice
I contacted John and had a consultation with him about my reckless driving ticket. John gave me straight forward honest advice on how I could handle my case and try to reduce it. When I went to court I took John's advice and got much better outcome! I will retain John for any future needs.

Good Lawyer
John did a great job for me in both civil and criminal cases. He is affordable and effective. He went above and beyond what I expected him to do. I value his opinion and will continue to use his services whenever I need legal help in my rental property business.

Honest, straight-forward advice with no gouging like a lot of other lawyers.
I consulted with and hired Attorney Huberty to handle some issues being confronted in my small business. He gives you the unvarnished truth no matter what, and is always straight to the point, not wishy-washy. Even when its obviously not what you want to hear, he tells it like it is and pulls no pu...

Divorce
I hired mr Huberty as a divorce attorney. What should have been a give and take situation between my ex and myself ended up being a give give situation from my side. I asked John why he wasn't fighting for me he stated " we fight when we go to court". Which we were trying to avoid and did avoid. So...
I'd be very interested in discussing this complaint with whomever is making it, but they choose to remain anonymous. I will say that I strive to explain the lay of the land so to speak to all of my clients, including potential costs for any action considered and the likelihood of success, so my client, once fully informed, can make their own decision since it is their case, not mine. Ultimately the client is in charge and makes the decisions so any decision not to pursue relief is the client's to make after being fully informed. Sometimes the situation means spending $2 to chase $1, which simply never makes sense, but if that is what a client wants that is what we will do. This is what happened here, no doubt, as my client was informed that success was not guaranteed, but the cost to him or her would be, and they wisely decided that the cost-benefit analysis dictated settlement. I've run into attorneys who try to foment discord for the purpose of creating a situation requiring more services, which lets them bill more hours, at the client's expense. I am not such an attorney.
"I had a case with John approximately six months ago on a child custody and parenting time matter. We resolved the case in a reasonable manner. I found John to be easy to work with. He was prompt in following through on requests for information and drafting documentation and he was reasonable. I endorse John, and I would recommend him without hesitation."
