My case is almost over and Gail has ghosted me. This after postponing or being late for meetings, not following up for several days, and failing to deliver work by her own promised deadlines. Other reviews indicate that this is a trend, I should have paid closer attention before I wasted my money o...n an incomplete case. Wildly unprofessional.

Gail Mattey is very professional, dedicated, passionate about her career and who genuinely cares about her client. She took over my divorce & OFP case for free but yet fought with the voracity of a client worth billions. She educated me on what we should expect, the likely outcome would be and them s...he achieved it. When my kids dad serviced me an OFP, Gail, would be up late at 10pm working on my case. She would call be least everyday, she is very good with communications and updates. Gail is very organized, assertive, goal oriented and fearless. I am very pleased, happy and proud of you. God bless you for fighting for me and reunifying me and my children. You are absolutely the best.

If it was not for Gail Mattey, I don’t know where I would be right now. I was so lost and had zero hope. You see, I was in an abusive relationship for a very long time, and as you can imagine, it did not end well. Gail was a super star in every way, from how much she charged me knowing I didn’t have ...much, to how she handled all of my ex’s lawyer’s absurd demands. My ex’s lawyer was actually his sister who I had known and called family for 18 years, but when we separated, she came after me with a vengeance: filing after filing, demand after demand, roadblock after roadblock, and endless amounts of hostility towards me and Gail. In the end, my ex’s lawyer’s tricks did not work, because Gail skillfully argued my case to the judge, who ruled in my favor, giving me almost everything I was hoping for. Gail took me on not only as a client, but she treated me as a friend and immediately made me feel like I was a top priority. The compassion she has for her clients is something you don’t see every day. She made me feel like she had my back and that I was not alone when I felt like I had no one. Gail is an amazing person and an even better lawyer.

Gail was a terrible lawyer. So incredibly unprofessional!! She shared way too much of her personal life, told me about her sexual preferences during meetings, brought her daughter to our meetings and refuses to return my emails and phone calls even though the court order is not signed. We had a case ...in October and it took me multiple months to hear anything back from her and all she had to do was change a time in the order. She finally returned my call and made an excuse she was in the hospital for something that didn’t take three months. She edited the order and then I didn’t hear from her again for a couple months. I needed this order signed to get my three and five year old therapy for abuse they endured and she didn’t and doesn’t care. She has sent the document to be signed to the other party but now is again not returning my emails. This is the worst lawyer experience I’ve ever had and her in professionalism is astounding!! Hopefully court admin can get our judge to make Gail do her job and what I paid her to do.

I came to Gail with my high-conflict divorce case needing to file a highly complex and emotionally-taxing motion to change child support as the non-custodial parent. 10-years into my nearly constant, post-divorce battle with my ex regarding child support amount and adjustment disputes; motion/counter...-motion, I had little hope and even less money with which to file my latest motion. Right away in our initial meeting she not only listened to me but I was amazed and happily suprised at how quickly she got up to speed with the background of my case - even laying out the basic strategy elements of how she would approach, complete, file and defend my particular motion for the best chance at getting a positive result. I could also tell she actually cared about my outcome and that, combined with her 7-years of direct experience working under several judges/referees within the Hennepin County Family Court system, as well as her being sensitive to costs (I’m not rich) and willing to allow me some flexibility on that, convinced me to hire her. With no prior experience on my case, and with only a (long) day’s worth of work, we worked collaboratively on it together and by the end of it I had a solid motion - and some regained hope - with which to go back to court. At my hearing, Gail did an amazing job presenting and defending my motion; efficiently and effectively highlighting the important points of what I needed changed and why...even the judge commented on and thanked her for submitting a well-written motion that helped her quickly discern and deal with the facts and circumstances with my motion. After expecting another disappointing day at the FJC, I could’t believe that the judge actually ruled on it that day - and mostly in my favor. I’m convinced it wouldn’t have happened that way had I been with any of the several attorneys I’ve hired for these types of matters in the past. I sincerely and highly recommend Gail for any family law issues you have to deal with in Hennepin County and will definitely depend on her unique combination of legal talent and Hennepin County family court system-specific experience with any future motions I need to file.
