Do not have her handle your divorce!

I hired Summer to handle my divorce based on her sales pitch of "I will fight for you.", which she repeated multi times. She talked about all of the things she would fight for that I was entitled to after a 38 year marriage. My ex is very wealthy and refused to be cooperative, didn't supply any discl...osure information, hid accounts and lollygagged through the whole process. I supplied reams of information during disclosure because I was advised I had to give the info to their side. Summer did not fight for me to get any of that information and said she had no control over what he provided. He ended up giving ua a blank worksheet a few hours before mediation. She totally acquiesced to my husband's' lawyer, never fought for any of the things she pitched she would fight for me to receive. I believe she was very intimidated by my ex's second attorney. I was upset by the fact that he gave us zero information for mediation. Summer was obviously annoyed that I cried during mediation, and admonished me because of how "hard she fought for me". I wanted to go in front of a judge, but Summer knew I was low on funds and told me it was time to grow up as this was the best deal I was going to get. So here I am in my late 60's looking for a job as I got none of his pension, SS or retirement benefits. He will give me a monthly stipend (that does not cover my monthly expenses) until he dies (which could be any day as he is very unhealthy). Upon his death I get a lump sum (that is less than my outstanding mortgage). Overall her promise to fight for me was just a sales pitch. I would not recommend Summer to handle anyone's divorce.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
