Evan Yi-Van Lin

Evan is the founding attorney and managing member of Lin Law LLC.  He practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Corporate / Business, and Real Estate.  Evan has been certified as an Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC).   

Evan has been named to the Wisconsin Super Lawyers list for eleven (11) consecutive years from 2015 to 2025 as one of the top lawyers in estate planning and probate in Wisconsin by the publishers of Super Lawyers® Magazine.  Each year, only 5% of the attorneys in Wisconsin achieve this honor.  Evan had previously been named to the Wisconsin Rising Stars list five times in Estate Planning and Probate by the same publication.  Evan has also received an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating Service, the highest rating available, reflecting an attorney who has achieved the height of professional excellence and is recognized for the highest level of skill and integrity.  The AV® Preeminent™ rating is a registered certification mark of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell® certification standards, procedures and policies.  In addition, Evan also received the Martindale-Hubbell® Platinum Client Champion award recognizing him as part of an elite group of attorneys for his commitment to the best in client service, which is its highest designation for client satisfaction as affirmed by his clients through their quantity and quality of reviews.  In addition, Evan was recognized in The Powerlist: Business Defense by the editorial staff of the Wisconsin Law Journal who hand-picks its list based on its knowledge of the legal market across Wisconsin and what it hears from the legal community as to the who's-who of business defense attorneys throughout Wisconsin.

Evan graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University of Chicago in 1995 with a bachelors degree in business, majoring in accounting, and subsequently graduated in the top 15% of his class, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1998. While in law school, Evan received the State Bar of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin Law School award for highest achievement in his Federal Estate / Gift Tax class and his Corporate Tax class.

Evan is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has been an adjunct faculty member in the paralegal program at NWTC teaching a class in Estate Planning and Probate Administration. Evan is also frequently invited to speak at seminars for attorneys, accountants and other financial professionals regarding estate planning matters.

Evan’s professional affiliations include serving as current President of the Estate Planning Council of Northeast Wisconsin, Past President of the Green Bay Estate Planning Forum, and Past President of the Brown County Bar Association.  Evan is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Evan has been elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Solo, Small Firm & General Practice Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

Evan has also volunteered his time for a number of community organizations and charities, including serving on the Board of Education of Notre Dame Academy, the Board of Directors of the Cornerstone Foundation of Northeastern Wisconsin, the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation (including serving on the Executive Committee, the Professional Advisors Committee, and as chairs of the Audit Committee and Program Committee), the American Heart Association, Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin and the Friends of St. Vincent Hospital Foundation. Evan has also participated in the Wisconsin Wills for Heroes pro bono program sponsored by the State Bar of Wisconsin which provides free wills, financial powers of attorneys and advance health care directives to publicly employed and volunteer first responders and their spouses / partners.
