William L. Brown

I have spent my entire career in the courtroom. Over 2,000 cases litigated, more than 100 jury trials to verdict — experience that spans civil disputes, personal injury matters, and some of the most complex criminal cases in Wisconsin's recent history.

I'm now a trial attorney at Hurley Burish in Madison, with a practice focused on civil litigation, personal injury, and criminal defense in state and federal court. Before that, I spent four years in private practice at Kasieta Legal Group, representing individuals, businesses, banks, and non-profits in civil matters ranging from personal injury to business disputes to employment law. I then spent a decade as a Deputy District Attorney in the Dane County District Attorney's Office — one of the largest prosecutor's offices in Wisconsin — where I held a senior leadership role supervising dozens of attorneys. In 2025, the Wisconsin District Attorneys' Association named me Deputy District Attorney of the Year.

Some of my trial work has been covered by CBS's 48 Hours and Court TV, among other outlets, and has been viewed millions of times online. More than the coverage itself, what matters to me is what that experience means for clients now: I know how cases get built and what it actually takes to win in front of a jury — whether that's a civil case, a personal injury claim, or a serious criminal charge.

Outside of work, I'm an aviation enthusiast and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). I'm an avid outdoorsman — hunting, fishing, and camping are a big part of my life, and my family and I have visited every one of Wisconsin's state parks together. I serve on the Board of Directors of YMCA Camp MacLean in Burlington, Wisconsin, where I previously served as Board Chair, and I coach Little League at Kennedy Little League each spring. Away from the outdoors, I enjoy local theater, playing guitar, and traveling.
