Robert worked on behalf of an existing business with the City and its Redevelopment Authority to obtain a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant from the State of Wisconsin. The structure of the p ... roject required the conveyance of land to the RDA to allow the City and the RDA to use the grant funds to pay for the construction of the necessary improvements for the expansion of the business. The property is being leased back to the business with an option to purchase.

City of Columbus Tax Incremental Financing

OUTCOME: Robert succesfully completed negotiations to allow three businesses to locate their facilities within the Tax Incremental District, which will add approximately $9,000,000 in assessed property values and 40 to 50 new jobs.

OUTCOME: Robert successfully convinced a jury to enforce the terms of a listing contract against the defendants. This case is currently on appeal to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.

Masko v. City of Madison, et al

OUTCOME: Robert succesfully had the Plaintiff's case dismissed. This case is now the seminal case in Wisconsin for the proposition that the doctrine of issue preclusion may apply to issues resolved at Municipal Court trials.

Robert represented the City of Madison and its insurance carrier as to a personal injury claim against a City of Madison bus driver. Plaintiff had previously litigated a traffic citation issued in a mu ... nicipal court trial. The Wisconsin Court of Appeals, in a published opinion, ruled that any issues that were resolved in the municipal court case could not be re-litigated by the Plaintiff in the subsequent personal injury lawsuit.
