A Wisconsin lawyer had clearly violated ethical standards by dropping my case without warning (and after cashing the check) and by not delivering information to the opposing side, after agreeing to do so (and, again, after cashing the check). For months, I was in danger of a contempt of court violati...on without my knowledge and could have gone to jail. As head of the WI Office of Lawyer Regulation, Attorney Sellen considered the charges against my former lawyer and declared that he had done nothing wrong and I deserved no compensation. Why? Because the lawyer in question told him that he had provided the information to the opposing side, but had lost the email message. Given that the opposing side never received the information and that legal firms routinely archive their email correspondence, Sellen's explanation is not even credible.
