Intentionally drags feet to inflate fee

He'll tell you that drawing the matter out wears down the other guy, and that may be true, but the end result was that I paid him TWICE as much as he could have possibly saved me on a small claim. Had I just paid the claim without an attorney, I'd have saved $8000. Not a good deal in anyone's book.... What's more, I only hired him to be safe, but his intention was to drive the plaintiff crazy and keep him from getting money he was rightfully owed, and make him go through hell to get it. I wanted to pay and get it over with, and Carter said he'd do that for me, and that I definitely needed an attorney to protect myself, but all that was needed was a fifteen minute call asking for a means to settle, and instead it took two years, both parties ended up with huge attorney bills, and the only people satisfied were the attorneys. If you really have a huge liability that you rightfully don't owe, and he can assure you that his costs will not be twice what he could save you with his "feet-dragging" methods, then maybe he could help you. But if the facts are against you because you're in the wrong, and the other party is going to hang in there, then all Carter will do is make everyone hate themselves for not settling, and everyone will be the poorer for it, including YOU. Like I said, I'd have $8,000 more in the bank for my kids if I'd gotten a more ethical attorney. In my view, he's willingness to fight dirty is what most people think is plain wrong with the legal system. Oh, and because he's blind, you'll have to convert all your documents to digital documents so his computer can read them to him. So extra effort for that. I'm all for employing the handicapped, but decide if you want to have to manage your own documents on his behalf. He's a smart guy, but he's not the slightest bit interested in making things easy, getting you out at the least expense to you, he's only interested in making your opponent with they'd never thought to get into this, but you'll feel that way too after working with him. Sad.
