For nearly 20 years, I have aggressively defended OWI and criminal cases throughout Wisconsin. My practice is statewide, focusing solely on drunk driving, criminal and traffic defense. Over the last 18 years, I have successfully defended hundreds of OWI cases. I have been the lead attorney on more than 150 OWI jury trials.
Prior to working in Wisconsin, I was a law clerk for the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. My job was to assist in implementing the OWI implied consent law in Nebraska, and I worked with the administrative law judges in conducting administrative OWI hearings.
My years of experience practicing in Wisconsin and my former law clerk experience have given me a unique perspective from both sides of the aisle. I fully understand the necessity of having the represenation of a qualified attorney in an OWI case.

OWI
Attorney Piel and his staff have been working with me for just over a year now. My trial is coming up extremely soon, and I feel obligated to say a little something as far as my experience with Walter. He has been extremely professional in terms of letting me know what to expect at all of my court he...

Best OWI Attorney in WI
If you are looking for a great OWI attorney in Wisconsin, contact Walter Piel. Laws in Wisconsin are much different in Michigan where I live. I contacted a couple other attorneys before Mr. Piel and none of them seemed like they knew what they were talking about, plus their fees were much higher. ...

MADE SURE HE GOT PAID
Walter seemed very good at first lots of communication and seemingly good ideas for my defense. The plea agreement offered was "bad" I was told. As my case drug on the communication stopped except for calling for his payment. My whole defense was based on legality of blood test (taken out of state) M...
I normally do not respond to negative reviews, although I do appreciate the feedback. I feel each client has a right to their opinion on my representation. However, your review indicated that in some way my office advised that you had to take a deal. I have been practicing law for 22 years and in that 22 year period I have not once told the client that they had to take a deal. I am willing to fight all my cases to a jury trial if the client wants to exercise their right to trial. However, I am ethically obligated to advise my clients of any offer and then the client ultimately makes the decision after discussion of the merits of their case. To tell a client as a case begins it is open and shut would be untruthful and dishonest, only after a careful review of all evidence, determining what motions are necessary and exploring all avenues of a potential defense, can the merits of a case be determined. As for the issues in a case and dragging out a case, again in 22 years, I have never drug out a case to get paid. I am dependent on the scheduling of the Courts and while I do offer payment plans to all clients to allow them an opportunity to hire an attorney if they choose to do so, I specifically do not drag out a case for payment purposes. In fact, many times clients end up completing their payment plan after a resolution. I would welcome a call if you would like to determine if your case can be reopened at no additional fee if you are unsatisfied with your result.

"I strongly endorse Attorney Walter Piel for defending OWI cases. He has over 23 years of experience and aggressively defends his clients to the full extent of the law. Walt believes that all individuals should have a competent attorney fighting on their behalf. He is a counselor to his clients in a difficult time in their life. His wife, Connie Piel, is the Office Manager/Marketing Manager and she knows her stuff. I will refer OWI matters to him and you should feel comfortable using him as well."
"I strongly endorse Atty. Piel for his tenacity and ability in defending OWI cases. He is an excellent attorney who is dedicated to defending his clients in the most difficult situations.. I strongly endorse Atty. Piel."
