State of Wisconsin v Morales

OUTCOME: Not Guilty

Morales was charged with Repeated Sexual Assault of a Child, which obligated the state to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the child was assaulted 3 times within the alleged time span. At trial the ... child claimed that she was assaulted some 15 times by Morales, but all 15 claimed assaults had the identical scenario: Morales assaulted her whenever she would go to his flat to visit his daughter. Morales did not testify. After 5 hours of deliberations a jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty.

Bartlett moved the trial court for an order permitting him to withdraw his plea, which the trial court denied. After full briefing, the Court of Appeals summarily reversed the trial court order.

Reyes was charged in a 5 count Indictment with selling F-14 aircraft parts to an Iranian agent in Geneva for trans-shipment to Iran. Reyes was found Not Guilty of conspiring with the agent, and Not Gui ... lty of two of the four counts relating to seperate shipments. The Not Guilty verdict on the conspiracy charge significantly lowered Reyes' then mandatory guidelines sentencing options.

Day was accused of Armed Robbery. The victim alleged that he was robbed, at gunpoint, by Day after withdrawing $5.00 from an ATM at 2:00 AM. Unconvinced, a jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty.

Jobe was charged in a two count Indictment with product tampering, in this case with putting rat poison into powdered milk that was shipped all over the country. Jobe denied that he had done so, and th ... e defense centered on whether he had access to the area where the poison was inserted into the processing. A jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty on both counts.

Kemp was a personal injury case that was dismissed at the circuit court level on summary judgment. The Wisconsin Supreme Court reversed and sent the case back for trial (it settled), agreeing that it w ... as time to change Wisconsin's product liability case law to permit the lessor of a defective product to be sued in strict products liability claims. The case was briefed and argued against Foley & Lardner, who represented Ford Motor Co., and against the Chicago firm of O'Connor, Schiff and Meyers, representing Budget Rent a Car, then a subsidiary of Sears.
