I am writing this review to share my experience with Dana L. Gimbel family law attorney whose professional conduct raised several concerns during the course of representation. While I acknowledge that every client-attorney relationship is unique, I believe it is important to bring attention to practi...ces that may impact the integrity of the legal process and the well-being of clients. Throughout my case, I encountered significant issues related to billing transparency. Although the attorney’s advertised rate was $200 per hour, I was consistently billed at amounts far exceeding that figure—without sufficient explanation or itemization. This created undue financial stress, particularly for a client not fully versed in the complexities of family law billing. Additionally, I observed what appeared to be unnecessary involvement of private investigators in what should have been a straightforward child custody matter. These actions, in my view, escalated costs and complexity without a clear legal basis. I also noted that Dana L Gimbel appointed a specific guardian ad litem with whom she appeared to have a close working relationship. This raised concerns as to whether such appointment was made in the best interest of the child or was potentially influenced by outside financial or professional interests. More troubling, however, was the lack of cultural sensitivity and respect demonstrated during our interactions. I experienced dismissive and biased behavior rooted in stereotypes related to my identity as a Latina woman and the presence of a non-native English accent. Moreover, there was an evident disregard for my hearing-related disability, and reasonable accommodations were not offered or respected. These experiences contributed to a feeling of marginalization in a process that is already emotionally difficult for any parent or caregiver. While I maintain respect for the legal profession and the many ethical practitioners within it, I encourage individuals seeking representation in family law matters to conduct thorough research and ask direct questions regarding billing practices, professional associations, and cultural competency. Attorneys should be held to the highest standards of integrity, impartiality, and client-centered care—especially when representing families and children during vulnerable times.
