Biography
I began my career at then-Gimbel, Gimbel & Reilly as a law clerk in 1985 and worked there until graduation in 1986. After two years practicing in my hometown of La Crosse, Wisconsin, I returned to Milwaukee and GRGB Law in February 1989. I became a partner in 1999.
I focus my practice on matters involving writing, research and procedural issues in state and federal courts, including appeals and trial court motion practice, as well as products liability defense and general civil practice.
I have successfully represented parties on appeal in very diverse areas of practice, including family, personal injury and contract, as well as direct and collateral appeals in criminal matters. For example, I authored the briefs in Steinmann v. Steinmann, the only decision in the family law area issued by the Wisconsin Supreme Court in the 2007-08 term. American National Property and Casualty v. Nersesian established new law governing settlement agreements. State v. Wasserman involved judicial notice and issue preclusion in a criminal case.
