Sluggish representation

I hired Ben to handle my divorce... i thought being from a 3 generation law firm he would bring some experience to the table. Instead he is incapable of relating to real people with real problems because he has never wanted for anything in his life. He doesn't try hard because he doesn't have to. He ...allowed my ex to violate the court order while the divorce was pending on at least 6 occasions, as well as lie in court and withhold income documents. My ex took My vehicle after he blew the engine in his by not putting oil in it and made no payments for 6 months and removed me from the health insurance policy while the divorce was pending and Ben did nothing. These things caused me great hardship including homelessness and Ben always seemed amused at my struggles. He attempted to prepare me for trial in the courthouse hall 10 minutes before court. His answer to that is to say it didn't go to trial... but in all honesty... no one knew whether it would go to trial or not until we got into the courtroom! He charged me quite a bit to prepare for trial but there was very little preparation. I asked multiple times for a detailed bill as he wanted large sums of money before each hearing usually giving me very little notice to come up with it in order to be represented at hearings and trial. But my requests were ignored by Ben and staff. Ben finally files contempt charges at my insistence and then doesn't follow through he withdraws. I have lost a lot of money to my ex and to this law firm who barely represented me. If you want someone who will fight for your rights under the law... Ben is not the man for you. He takes a very passive approach.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
