Nice Guy, Knowledgeable, Bad Communication

I had Mr. Nelson appointed to me for representation when I was facing criminal charges. Upon initially meeting, he seemed very friendly and up-to-speed on the case as well as the ramifications that I'd likely be seeing. Although that was the case, he didn't allow much of an opportunity for me to spea...k to him and he came off as condescending at times. Between the initial meeting and the few months until court, I didn't hear from him one time, despite me reaching out through calls and emails. I was nervous and had questions that only he could've answered -- and he failed. Upon the first court appearance, he ignored me - even when I entered a "restricted" area, where he just side-eyed me until someone else nudged me and said I wasn't supposed to be where I was. With 25+ people staring, it was embarrassing and provided some insight of his character. This first court appearance was also just the day where we set an actual court date for judgement. David did not emphasize this and had he answered any of the questions I tried asking him, I wouldn't have been as disoriented that day as I was, nor had my family with me for support when it wasn't necessary. Again, between this first date and the next, final court appearance, he reached out maybe 1 or 2 times, independent of any outgoing efforts I'd make. He clearly showed by now that he just wanted the case to be over. Thankfully, whether he did extra work without me knowing, or the powers that be implemented some divine intervention, David DID help me reach a judgement that exceeded my expectations. To this day I am very thankful that things played out the way they did. Despite all of the flaws, I can't not recommend somebody that helped me get my life back on track. Perhaps I wasn't a large enough paycheck, so maybe that could be why my experience was how it was. If you need someone to defend you, I know for certain David has helped at least one person, so you should consider a consultation.

Real Estate - Failure to Disclose Defect case - COULDN'T BE HAPPIER WITH DAVE!!!

I am a real estate investor and had a situation where the the previous owner of an investment property I purchased failed to disclose what I felt was a known defect in the plumbing system. I spoke with Dave to get an initial consultation regarding my specific situation. He asked several clarifying ...questions to make sure that I had a case. I found it comforting that Dave wanted to make sure that I had a legitimate case and did not just take my case without being sure it had merit. Long story short, after I provided Dave with all of my documentation, he took care of everything! He contacted the previous owner, filed the law suit, negotiated on my behalf, etc. In the end, Dave was able to not only cover all of my out-of-pocket expenses but was also able to get a little bit extra to compensate me for my time and trouble. I would definitely recommend Dave to anyone looking for an attorney!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
