I handle a variety of personal injury, civil rights, and commercial litigation matters, but specialize in representing individuals seriously harmed as the result of substandard medical care. I am motivated by injustice and a sense of fair play, and seek accountability on behalf of those who have been hurt or killed by carelessness, errors, or systemic deficits in nursing homes, prisons, hospitals, and long-term care facilities.

 

Before devoting my practice to representing individuals and families, I spent years representing large institutions—insurers, businesses, and governmental entities—in commercial litigation, insurance coverage, civil rights, and personal injury cases. Having extensively defended complex cases, I anticipate how the defense will approach a case, and my clients benefit from my perspective and insight in evaluating claims, negotiating settlements, and presenting cases at trial.

Excellent!
I received a terrible wound from a nursing home. Besides being very kind, Michael walked me through the whole justice system, very often explaining why things happen, timelines, options, and how the opposing lawyer might respond. Michael was very professional and thorough. I was very satisfied with his knowledge and concern of me and my case.

Exceptional!!
Michael Cerjak handled our nursing home negligence case. He was very thorough in his explanations, and kept our family informed with frequent updates. His firm even traveled to meet with our family at a location closer to where we live, so we did not have to travel as far.
