I wouldn’t hire him to represent me over a traffic violation

Wow, I’m not even sure where begin. First of all, I cannot even begin to fathom how this firm has managed to achieve ANY decent reviews with attorneys like JOHN JACOBSEN as well as BRIAN JOHNSON. To be completely honest I’m not even sure who was worse. That being said, it was explained to me... that “they have been doing this a while so they are pretty straightforward.” To which I responded that, As a small business owner myself, I appreciate bluntness and straightforwardness. However, those particular traits were not my issue with John Jacobsen. I tried to explain in with as clearly as I was able, that number one the charges against me were inaccurate, and number two, which I’m sure makes me sound paranoid (but it is NOT paranoia when someone is actually after you), that I am being railroaded, without question. Not to mention that the charge was 5th degree theft, not only do I not have ANY CHARGES ON MY JUVENILE RECORD OR MY RECORD AS AN ADULT. More ironically that my small business( which I’ve owned for 10 years) has been nominated the last 4 YEARS IN A ROW for the “Torch Award for BUSINESS ETHICS” by the Better Business Bureau, and I have a reputation throughout my community that is beyond reproach. Therefore, I don’t even believe he heard 90% of what I said, and I’m 100% sure that he didn’t care if I was innocent or guilty, he wanted his retainer fee. When I asked him if he would look into the evidence against me, he literally told me “I wouldn’t recommend not taking a diversion agreement because you stand a chance of being found guilty “and my response that was how would I be found guilty if I didn’t commit the crime I’m being accused of, that there is literally no evidence supporting the charge? Then there is BRIAN JOHNSON, whom I was equally, if not more stunned by his attitude which I would describe as almost downright belligerent and to be completely blunt, he is absolutely 150% a complete jackass. Before I was able to explain why I wanted to speak with him, despite the fact that I’d already spoken to an attorney in his office, he cut me off and said “if you’ve already talked to an attorney in this office I’m going to give you the same advice”. I then try to explain that my concern was that I didn’t feel I was going to be getting adequate representation from the other attorney. Once more, he could not have been less interested in hearing what I had to say. I finally cut him off and I said “you clearly don’t care about your clients goodbye” I have relationships with many different attorneys in the Cedar Rapids/ Iowa City areas because they are actually clients of my business, but I would not want to compromise the rapport I’ve spent years building with them. That being said if you want a lawyer with a drop of compassion for your situation, an attorney who is actually interested in the facts of your case, as opposed to the ability to pay the retainer, and most importantly, an attorney who cares whether or not you are innocent or guilty. An attorney whose concern is you taking up as little of their time as possible, and want someone to represent you and ACTUALLY defend you, especially when you’re not guilty of the crime, I would suggest going to any other law firm, but this one. Hell, I would try Iowa legal aid First. All in all, incredibly disappointing in every aspect of how they handle business, And the length of time for which they have been practicing is 1000% irrelevant to how they treat potential clients. If you go with these attorneys, good luck. I’m quite impassioned about posting this review because I’m actually down right insulated and beside myself about the treatment I received from not ONE OF THEIR ATTORNEYS BUT 2, and I am going to make it a point to post this review anywhere I am able to because adequate representation from a decent attorney is INCREDIBLY import
