I had this lawyer for a criminal case and he sucked. He did not know what he was doing. He lied to me about the case, overbilled me, then rolled me over b/c he was afraid to go to court. I later found out he threatened a juror and spent time in jail for his crime in 2014. He is a real piece of work. I would recommend any 1st year law student over this hack attorney. Tinnian is only able to advertise that he is a criminal attorney b/c he is an attorney and he is a criminal. He should be disbarred. He is a disgrace to the entire Iowa legal profession.

Raymond Tinnian is the worst attorney ever. He screwed up my case bad. He did not file court papers and got me arrested for failing to appear when he promised me I did not need to go to court. He lied to me about fees he was charging for the case. He duped me into using him thru a court appointed program and said it would be free. He charged the state over $1500 for an easy OWI guilty plea and the court made me pay the attorney fees.

My biggest problem with this attorney was his lack of effort and communication with me while doing an appeal on my behalf. He seemed knowledgeable enough as he told me everything that could be done for me. I was very impressed with him in the first meeting so I paid him two thousand dollars cash to start the appeals process. After the initial payment, he never returned my calls and failed to produce anything that resembled a decent appeal based on others I have read online. Once I started to complain about the lack of work he had done, the communication issues got worse. At some point before and prior to the appeal being due, I threatened him with a report to the professional ethics board. His response was chilling. He told me that he had "good friends, very good friends, best friends," on the board and they would laugh and bury the complaint on him. At first I did not believe him, thought he talking crap. In the end, he cost me five thousand dollars for which I got two pages of written material that was so pathetic, I dropped my appeal. Total disaster dealing with this guy.
