About Joseph
Biography
I was raised on a Northeast Iowa farm. I graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. degree in Dairy Science and a B.S. degree in Public Service and Administration in Agriculture in 1979. I graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1982. I clerked for the busiest Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Judge in the United States, the Honorable William W. Thinnes, from June of 1984 until his death in September of 1985. Thereafter, I resumed my practice and emphasizing farm bankruptcy and debt restructuring. I frequently teach lawyers about bankruptcy.
My favorite hobby is woodworking. I enjoy making furniture that I design.

“I accepted a public reprimand as the prosecution of the complaint occurred when my wife had been diagnosed with cancer. The County Recorder had mistakenly released the lien on my client's boat so it did not show up when a lien search was completed on the boat. I advised my client to sell the boat and exempt the proceeds.”
