Steven Lee Cooper

Steve is a shareholder with Cooper, Goedicke, Reimer, & Reese, P.C. Steve has a general law practice that includes criminal defense, family law, juvenile law, wills, social security disability, and other litigation. Steve is admitted to practice in Iowa state court, and federal court.

Steve received his Juris Doctorate from Drake University Law School. At Drake Law School Steve received a certificate in Litigation and Dispute Resolution. Steve was admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa in 2011. Steve received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Communication Studies from Central College in Pella.

At Drake Law School Steve was a regional finalist on the National Mock Trial Team, was a C. Edwin Moore Oral Argument semi-finalist, and Steve received the top grade in his Trial Advocacy class. While at Drake, Steve represented indigent clients on criminal matters ranging from OWI to possession of marijuana at the Drake Legal Clinic. Steve also interned with the Polk County Attorney’s Office prosecuting various crimes from drunk driving to simple misdemeanors.

At Central College Steve was Student Body President his senior year. Steve was an active member of the Central Mock Trial Team all four years including serving as a team captain three out of four years. Steve was a student representative to the Board of Trustees, served on Student Senate, and was a student representative to various faculty committees.

Prior to founding Cooper, Goedicke, Reimer, & Reese, P.C., Steve has worked at a local general practice law firm with a practice including criminal and family law. Before that Steve was a law clerk and then associate at a criminal defense firm, and during law school Steve clerked at a worker’s compensation and personal injury firm.

Steve handles cases around Iowa, but primarily in Polk, Dallas, and Warren Counties.

Steve is active in the community serving on the board of his local church, and as the attorney coach for the Central College Mock Trial Team since 2010. Steve is a member of the Iowa Bar Association and the Polk County Bar Association.
