Magdalena Beme Reese

Magda is a partner with Cooper, Goedicke, Reimer, & Reese, PC. Magda engages in the general practice of law, including criminal defense, family law, juvenile law, adoption, appeals, and mediation. She received her Juris Doctorate from Drake University in 2007 and was admitted to the Iowa State Bar in the same year. She was later admitted to the Meskwaki Tribal Court.

Magda received her Bachelor of Science degrees in animal science and journalism and mass communication from Iowa State University in 2003. While at ISU, Magda competed on the equestrian team, worked as a polo groom for the Des Moines Polo Club, and completed an internship with Equine Resources International, an equine marketing, public relations, and marketing firm outside of Philadelphia. She also spent a semester abroad studying equine science at the University of Limerick in Ireland.

During law school, Magda was a law clerk at Parrish Kruidenier law firm in Des Moines, competed on the mock trial and international mediation teams, and served as a student attorney for the Children’s Rights Clinic.

Following graduation, Magda served as a law clerk for the judges in the 8th and 5th judicial districts of Iowa and worked in private practice. She also coached the Drake Law School International Mediation Team and travelled with the team to London, England.

Magda is a member of the Iowa State and Polk County Bar Associations, Polk County Women Attorneys, Iowa Organization of Women Attorneys, and Blackstone Inn of Court. She is also a trained mediator. She serves as a board member for the Iowa Bar Review School and Parenting Way. Magda lives in West Des Moines with her husband and three sons.
