On the first day of law school, they asked why were there. I replied that "I've always wanted to find out what was behind the wizard's curtain." Since that day, I have continued in my pursuit of knowledge and have been fascinated to learn that the law is an ever changing thing. It is shaped and molded by those that study and apply it. My first passion is being in the court room. I understand that listening to my cleints and being their voice is my main job as an advocate for the rights of my clients. I have worked hard to earn the reputation of being The Proven Fighter. I will continue to tirelessly work to protect the rights of my clients in and out of the courtroom.
I am blessed to live and work in Northern Michigan with my wife and daughter. It is truly a special place and has some of the best people in the world. We take advantage of everything the greater Traverse City area has to offer. When I not at work, I like to spend time with my family, go to the State Theater, hike, fish and go to great restaurants.

A True Advocate!
Attorney Chefalo successfully protected my interests when a predatory lender turned my life upside down. I will always be grateful to Gerry for his knowledgable and vigorous advocacy on my behalf.

no due diligence
My ex wife made a verbal agreement in mediation. However, this lawyer did not complete the paperwork and receive a signature. She changed her mind, costing further attorney fees
One of the mediator's responsibilities is to write the terms of the agreement reached and obtain the parties signatures before the close of the mediation session. The parties are required to review the agreement that the mediator has written up to ensure accuracy before they sign.

The man with a plan..
He's a fighter that cares about his clients and their future. I had 2 felony charges and he made them into 1 misdemeanor. He has helped out my family with DUI's, wills, bankruptsy, and felony drug charges. He's reasonably priced and a very smart man. His staff is also excellent at being there for his...

Handled Easily!
The office easily handled my matter even though I was nervous. I may have called numerous times, asking the same questions over and over, but the staff always took the time to answer my questions. Once my case went to court, Mr. Chefalo handled the matter, getting the case dismissed, WITHOUT TRIAL!! ...

The Proven Fighter Wins Again!
My Fiance and I retained Mr. Chefalo to fight bogus tickets that we had received by the 86th District Court. Mr. Chefalo got my fiance's ticket dismissed without a trial then got mine dismissed at trial. I had been hesitant to fight these tickets at first and was ready to fork over hundreds of doll...
"Gerry is a very skilled and talented attorney and facilitative mediator. I respect his professionalism and appreciate the services he offers to our community."
"I have both referred clients to Gerry and worked with him on a co-counsel basis. I fully endorse Gerry's work ethic, his professional ethics and his sense of justice. He is a great lawyer to work with and I am fully confident in referring clients to him. I have been a practicing attorney for 43 years, including as the chief federal prosecutor for the 49 counties comprising the Western District of Michigan and I have no doubts about Gerry's competence and ability to work a file to a successful conclusion.
