Joe's practice focuses on healthcare reimbursement laws and regulations surrounding providers and patients. He helps providers untangle the laws and regulations providing them with optimal reimbursement. Among the spectrum of legal services, he reviews, edits and drafts physician and mid-level employment agreements, provides legal advice on reimbursement issues related to coding, billing, denials, and handles third-party payor audits. He has successfully appealed over $1 million collectively across many provider types (e.g., ambulance, solo practitioners, large medical groups, and hospitals).
Prior to becoming an attorney, Joe work in coding, billing, compliance, and operations. He understands and knows how to analyze the laws and identify potential impacts related to the client's operations. Understanding the law is important, but knowing how to implement in a practice is where Joe brings tremendous value.
He is a national speaker and has written three books on Evaluation and Management coding among numerous other publications. He is often called upon to speak nationally on telehealth services and the impacts on the continued changing landscape of reimbursement regulations.
Additionally, Joe is on the National Small Business Association Leadership Council and serves on two policy groups in Washington D.C.: Healthcare & Labor and Economic Development.

Jennifer Taylor, Health care Attorney on Apr 9, 2022
Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
I endorse this lawyer. I sought out Joe and his expertise on a personal, healthcare-related matter. He was professional, knowledgeable, courteous and kind. With his assistance my issue was fully resolved in a fraction of the time I spent trying to resolve the issue on my own. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking legal assistance with a healthcare matter.
