You and your family are more valuable to one another than can adequately be put into words, and that relationship is the foundation of all of the Infinite Legacy℠ Planning we do, whether for personal or business purposes. Your assets are the result of your relationships, values, and knowledge, which are far more useful to those you leave behind than the assets alone.
Your Legacy Is Valuable
Our Infinite Legacy℠ Planning process will help you identify what is most valuable to you and your family and what needs to be included in your personalized Infinite Legacy℠ Plan to protect that for you and for those you leave behind. Our Infinite Legacy℠ Program then educates, equips, and empowers your family and other heirs to carry out your Infinite Legacy℠ Plan while preserving your values and strengthening those relationships.
Your Time Is Valuable
We offer a free confidential Infinite Legacy℠ Planning Session for your family or your business. Our Infinite Legacy℠ Planning Session is an in-depth exploration of the relationships and assets important to your family or business. These meaningful discussions will result in concrete action steps for protecting your family, your business and your Infinite Legacy℠. We do all of this on your time schedule at one of our offices in Grandville, Grand Rapids, or Muskegon or at your place of business or home if you are unable to make it to one of our offices. Please call or email us to schedule a free initial consultation today.
My Experience and Education
I come from a long line of widows. My mother became a widow when she was 63, my grandmother became a widow when she was 52, and my great-grandmother became a widow when she was 30. My mother and grandmother have shown me first hand the basic needs of those left behind when a loved one dies. This experience has instilled in me a passion for putting plans together that educate, equip, and empower widows and other heirs.
My work has greatly benefited numerous families over the years, and, as a result, I have been awarded the highest ratings offerred by AVVO and Martindale-Hubbell, two of the most respected organizations that rate attorneys.
I earned my law degree from Wayne State University Law School after first graduating from the Lee Honors College of Western Michigan University. Following law school, I have worked as an attorney in the estate planning, and business law practice groups of West Michigan and Detroit-area law firms, gaining valuable experience and a very loyal client-following.
I am actively involved with WealthCounsel, a nationwide consortium of over 2,300 of the top estate planing and business attorneys in the country. I am also a member of the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils, the Western Michigan Estate Planning Council, and the State Bar of Michigan, where I was selected to serve on the statewide Membership Services Committee. I am the vice president of the Grand Rapids Lions Club, a Deacon at Knapp Street Reformed Church, a coach with Grandville AYSO, and a past president and former director of the Specialized Language Development Center.

Professional and prompt
We had a family emergency where we needed fast advice. Shawn made sure our minds were at ease and our legal affairs appropriately handled. There are no words to express how thankful our family is to have Shawn as our family attorney.
"I endorse Sean. He is a knowledgeable, thorough, and keeps his clients needs, values, and goals in mind at all times."
"Shawn's communication style is both calming and sincere. This enables him to relate to clients during stressful times and aid them in crafting custom, thoughtful, estate planning strategies to ensure their families are taken care of. I endorse this lawyer."
"I endorse this lawyer without any hesitation. He is dedicated to creating solutions that fit his clients and shuns the industry trend to pushing people into high volume, non-customized solutions. I have learned much from him in his work at a national level as it relates to estate planning. He is also a really good guy!"
"Shawn is a great lawyer who really cares about his clients--I'd recommend him for any estate planning or business needs."
"My initial contact with Shawn a few years ago was on opposite sides of a lease disagreement. He did a great job as an advocate for his client while still being honest and fair to work with. I do not hesitate to send referrals his way when things pop up I can't handle, especially in the Grand Rapids market."
"I would highly recommend Shawn. He is smart, articulate and motivated. I was fortunate to be able to work with Shawn during the negotiating and contracting portion of a large deal. His ability to craft concise, clear and intricate agreements is second to none. Shawn is an excellent contract attorney with a strong ethical practice and great feel for client relations. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a contract or estate planning attorney."
