I first met Mike the day after Christmas 2015. I had driven 8 hours to pickup my kids for our first Christmas together, they were 5 and 2 at the time. At the pickup point she stated that I was 1 hour late and she would not give me our children, being Christmas Eve my last lawyer would never answer a ...call let alone on a holiday weekend. I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas alone in a hotel room waiting for the courts to open so I could file a grievance. On the way to the courthouse I got lost and noticed Mikes firms lights on. After filing what I had to at the court I thought that if there is a lawyer working the day after Christmas that he cared enough to be at work when the rest of the town was closed. I stopped and asked a man at the receptionist desk if they had a lawyer I could talk too, he stood up with a big smile said Merry Christmas and that his name was Mike and what could he help me with. Mike said he had trial on Monday and wanted to make sure he was prepared! He's exactly what I need a lawyer who cared enough to spend time off reviewing future cases. I explained my situation and he never promised anything but he said he try like hell to get my rights as a father restored. Mike is a great lawyer, advisor and client focused man. Since I've been with him he has literally changed my life, I get to see my children and spend time with them. As a combat veteran from Afghanistan Its hard to trust people, however since meeting Mike I feel much better because I know he's got my 6 at all times!!! After 3 other lawyers I found the one for me!

I hired Mike based on a recommendation. He was eager to sign a contract and begin work with me. He immediately passed me off to a new partner without my permission. When I spoke with him he informed me that his "biggest" client had a case that he needed to work on and "if he had time he would look... over my case." His partner did very little work on my case as well as he had out of town cases that he needed to work on. I spoke with another local attorney about my case and the issues I was having. She was appalled at the quality of work that was being done and said that she did not like to work with Mike Van Tubergen as his practices were generally unethical. Do yourself a favor and hire someone who will keep the agreement and look out for your best interest. Mike cares about Mike's best interest.
