On Sept. 15, 2000, plaintiff's decedent, Kimberly Goldsmith, age 31, underwent an elective cesarean delivery. As part of the procedure, Dr. Lechiara administered a spinal injection of bupivacaine to M ... rs. Goldsmith's lumbar region. Approximately 10 minutes after the injection, Mrs. Goldsmith went into cardiac arrest and died. Her child was delivered safely.
