I’ve had a great experience all around with Jessica. She is also very highly thought of in the Kalamazoo Court (that’s where my case was). I started with a different attorney in her office but switched to Jessica due to the other one moving. It took 2 years for my case to be seen in a court room beca...use of Covid and Jessica never failed to keep me up to date. In December of 2019 just shortly before Christmas I was arrested for a first offense OWI, and I was devastated. Being a nurse I was terrified that I would lose my license. Ia year ago I got an OWI (operating while intoxicated), driving with a high blood alcohol level (BAC), as well as attempted assault. The attempted assault was a bogus chage. I’ll share a little bit of my story...I’m a Navy Vet and I have ptsd do to Military Sexual Trauma (MST)...this all happens beca...use I slid off the road, mind you I didn’t hit anything and I didn’t do any damage to my vehicle and I did not have my phone so I go out to get help as I was walking I kept feeling like someone was following me which triggered my PTSD and I started having a panic attack before the police showed up and My drunken is causing the panic attack and paranoia was getting worse and I was becoming more disoriented. I tried to leave the hospital and got tackled by four men. So yes I did what any woman who is a victim of MST would do and I was pulling away and trying to get free I remember I kept saying your just like them “your just like them” and the four male officers hog carried me to a bed where I was then put into 4point restraints and medically sedated. And I’ll admit I did try to spit in a nurse but in my defense she was cutting off my clothes without permission and exposing my breast to all four male officers in the room. Anyways that’s how I got my assault charge... Jessica LaFond was a gift sent from God to help guide me through this. I feel very fourtunate to have had her as my lawyer and I would recomend her to anyone. She not only helped me but she also never judged me or my mistakes. She treated me like a human being with compassion and Her kind heart as well as the emotional support Jessica provided throughout my court case was truly selfless. Jessica was willing to take my case to court and and was honest and realalistic with me throughout all of this. Jessica explained that I would more than likely get charged with something for the OWI and our hope was to get the attempted assault charge dismissed. She fought for me in the court room and was well educated on my story and medical history. Jessica let me help pick the jury and gave me a note pad to write down anything I thought was important. Jessica kept me up to date on everything that was happening and advised me on the different payment options between a DUI and driving with a blood alcohol. She answered any questions I had and let me voice my concerns even if they were repetitive. Jessica LaFond is a role model that all lawyers should look upto and strive to be. This woman is truly amazing and a badass!!!
