I started working in immigration law while a graduate student at Columbia University. I volunteered for Catholic Social Services in New York City learning about asylum laws and helping asylum seekers from Cuba, Guatemala and Nigeria. My love of immigration law and those caught in the system grew from that experience and became my focus and my passion.

After graduating from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1999, I was hired as the first attorney on staff at the Immigration Assistance Program in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In 2001, I became its director when the program moved under the auspices of the Diocese of Kalamazoo. As the Program Director for 11 years, I led the Diocese of Kalamazoo Immigration Assistance Program in serving thousands of families through the immigration process and advocated for immigrants’ rights and protections in the state and nationally. I helped reunite families and keep others together. In addition, I helped hundreds of committed and truly amazing members of our community become new citizens of the United States.

In 2010, I was asked by the Diocese of Grand Rapids to build an immigration legal services program. With the unwavering commitment of the Diocese, I was able to establish the Diocese of Grand Rapids Immigration Legal Services, which now provides quality and compassionate legal services to hundreds of low-income immigrants and their families who live in Grand Rapids and surrounding counties.

In July of 2013, I opened Inquilla Law. I want Inquilla Law to be a law practice dedicated to serving immigrants and their families. I remain committed to providing affordable, compassionate, and honest counsel to those seeking to immigrate and to those who already have made the United States their home.

Highly Recommended Lawyer
Kish is really a very very good lawyer. In other words, she can take care of business and does what she promises. I used her services to help me with my naturalization process which looked a bit daunting to me because of all the required information that needs to be submitted. But Kish was there and made the whole lengthy process a breeze. With her understanding, thoroughness and experience she not only made me comfortable consulting with her but she also helped me overcome some hiccups and get positive results. Once again, Kish, I cannot thank you enough. I am grateful for all your help. and you deserve more than five stars.

Best lawyer
I have met Kirsten about a year ago. I have hired a lawyer before Kirsten, he had been struggling with my case, he finally recommended Kirsten for me. He said I will send you to my teacher, her name is Kirsten she is one of the best lawyers I know and yes she is the best. My case was a very difficult and hard to deal with. I thought I was going to get deported. Kirsten had to make every effort to make sure that I wont get deported, and yes without her hard work and without her huge experience being a good lawyer I don't think I would be able to renew my Green Card. I was approved to be a legal resident in the United States just today. Kirsten is a very reliable, trustworthy, honest, smart and hard working lawyer. I hope I wont be in any more troubles with immigration, but if I ever do I would never worry because I know that I have Kirsten's phone number I will just give her a call. Thank you very much Kirsten for everything you have done for me and I wish you the best in your career. Amthel
