Michael D. Hills

Michael Hills is a graduate of Michigan State University School of Law, where he graduated with a cum laude distinction. After graduation, Hills served as a law clerk for Circuit Court Judge Harry A. Beach in Allegan County, Michigan After serving his year clerkship for Judge Beach, Hills opened his own practice in Kalamazoo Michigan. Mr. Hills’ practice is limited to criminal defense and has been since the first client walked through the door. Hills is a member in good standing of the Michigan Bar and the Federal Western District of Michigan.

Mr. Hills is an active member of the Kalamazoo Trial Lawyers Association and served as the organization’s president from 2002 to 2004. Hills is also an active member of the Kalamazoo Bar Association’s Board, serving on multiple committees. Other memberships include the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan.

Hills serves on the policy board for the Kalamazoo Drug Court and is an active participant in planning sessions for the Drug Court in Kalamazoo.

Mr. Hills’ experience runs the full gamut of the criminal spectrum. He has handled numerous murder cases, a multitude of minor in possession of alcohol charges, and everything in between, including both state and federal charges. Hills has extensive experience handling cases before formal charges are filed, as well as through trial and through the appeals process.

Mike loves the water, either on top of it skiing or underwater scuba diving/snorkeling/spearfishing. He is also an amatuer orchardist and maintains a small orchard where he forces his family to labor!
