My client contacted me the day before the Thanksgiving holiday telling me he had a pretrial hearing conference the following Monday and asked for my service. I took his case and researched it all weeke ... nd. His ex-girlfriend had accused him of domestic violence as a way to get back at him for not driving her to a "friend's" house. That friend was known to my client to be a regular drug abuser. My client didn't care if his ex-girlfriend went, but she also was going to take the 1-year old and 2-year old children that they'd had together. This made my client angry and he physically shoved her.

My female client and mother of three had a VPO served on her by her husband who used false pretenses to snatch her children, take them away, and keep her from seeing them. He was an absentee father who ... had moved in with a girlfriend even though still married to my client, who was living with his own parents! My client tried to leave the bad situation and take her children to a better life when he filed a VPO against my client with the intent of using it as a de facto custody order because he couldn't afford to file for divorce.
