I am a Canadian citizen with US permanent residency and was being charged with a DWI. I travel to Canada quite often and If convicted of these charges I would not be able to cross the boarder freely. Paid money and still didnt help with any of the issues. Was never available for Personal meetings only phone calls (when he had time). If he felt their was nothing he could do for the case, he should of been upfront about it. We learned our lesson and that's why we stop paying.
