Michael W. Reeds

Michael Reeds is the founder and lead attorney with the firm of Michael W. Reeds, P.C. He graduated from Cooley Law School, in 1976. Mr. Reeds graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 1973, earning his undergraduate degree in history. In 1978, Mr. Reeds founded the present firm, in Walled Lake, Michigan. Mr. Reeds taught at Cooley Law School as an adjunct professor from 1992-1994, teaching a course called “Lawyering Before Trial”. That course was utilized to teach young attorneys how best to prepare a case for trial. Case preparation is, according to Mr. Reeds, the foundation upon which the proper criminal defense rests.

Michael Reeds has been a contributing author since 1987 in the drinking and driving book entitled “Michigan Drunk Driving Law and Practice”. Mr. Reeds authors the chapter entitled “Trial Tactics”. In addition, Mr. Reeds has conducted hundreds of jury trials involving both felony and misdemeanor cases throughout the state. He is the pre-eminent authority on the conduct of jury trials in drunk driving cases. He has conducted seminars dealing with issues involving drunk driving. He has also litigated felony drunk driving cases, and those involving serious injury or death.
