In July of 2019, I was involved in a serious automobile collision with a drunk driver. I was hit head on by the driver. Unfortunately, I was charged with a Moving Violation Causing Serious Impairment of a Body Function. Therefore, I contacted Lewis & Dickstein Law Firm concerning the charges. I hired Spencer Bondy after a DUI, and I cannot say enough good things about my experience with him as my lawyer. I'd been dealing with a person who targeted me by filing false police reports claiming I did all kinds of things to her which were untrue. Unfortunately, I had an accident which caused damage to her property. (I will not get into the details.) This left me wide open for more untruths coming from t...his person to the extent I could have faced up to 1 year in jail all because this person wished to prosecute to the fullest extent regardless of what really happened. It was a humiliating experience and also very emotionally tough because the vulnerable feeling you get when someone uses the police as a tool to terrorize you with false claims (and get away with it) is maddening. My point here is Mr. Bondy and his associates took extreme care in making sure that they were there to protect me as much as the law will allow. They never questioned my sincerity from the beginning even though they really didn't know me. It was a good feeling that someone was there to be on my side, as you see, I was also taking care of my 90+ year old mother in the process. This person was the type that had no problem having me put in jail based on made up stories and untruths, placing my mother in a position where she would have no guardian. All this while claiming to be a very sacred and religious person. Spencer was very personable. He was always down-to-earth with me and made me feel like he was a friend, whilst at the same time remaining completely professional and businesslike. During all of this, my mother passed away and I was pretty much left alone to address this situation (although my siblings tried to be supportive.) In the end the process which I had to go through was pretty humiliating, but Spencer always did his best to help me remain focused to the end goal of my situation. He never made me feel humiliated, and I can tell you he is the first male lawyer that didn't talk down to me or make me feel unimportant...and I have dealt with a fair number of lawyers. Of course it wasn't just that, he always assured me that I had the power of the firm he was with, Lewis & Dickstein, and that this matter would be handled in such a way that it would always remain on point so when Spencer would explain things to me, I had no problem understanding him, because of that fact I had been included from the start. Some lawyers talk down to you, Spencer talked to me. Communication was completely open and available 24 hours a day. Spencer knew ahead of time about my possible anxieties in dealing with such a situation and did everything he possibly could to assure me he understood how I felt through everything, and came up with possible solutions which would help me cope as time went on, especially after I basically had a 'meltdown' over the situation and then my mother unexpectedly died of pneumonia after she'd done so well getting through a hip replacement and having a pacemaker put in her chest to help her heart. She was everything to me and the added stress of this case along with her death was almost something I could not withstand. In the end the final humiliation was pleading guilty as if I caused some harm of intent to this person who was described as the victim, when in fact, it was simply an accident and there was no victim. Such is the law, but again Spencer was there by my side helping me have some dignity through the whole experience, and that meant more than I can explain. We were set to go to trial, something that really wasn't necessary but this person had that right. I would have liked to have seen Spencer at work during the trial process, because we know we would have won, but other circumstance would most likely have kept me from being hassle free even afterwards. We decided to forego the trial when given the chance and cut to the end result. Mr. Bondy saved me much grief and emotional stress by working hard to come to the best end result we could have. I will be forever grateful to him.
