Unprepared, unresponsive, unprofessional, lack of integrity

I really hate writing a bad review but my experience with Ann-Marie was such that I feel it's necessary to warn people so they don't get served the negligence that I was served. It was just a really bad experience. She charged me nearly $6,000 and did almost nothing. She went through the first $3,...000 so fast claiming it was spent "reviewing emails and working on my case" but then after our first hearing before the judge it was clear she knew nothing of my case and hadn't read my emails, which she never responded to anyways. She rolls into court WAY late, speed walking down the courthouse hallway, hair a mess, out fit in shambles, carrying a stack of papers literally 10" thick, and a look of panic on her face. Why not be 10 min early with a briefcase and looking like you're about to earn that money? I was literally embarrassed that this was my representation. Out of breath she starts hounding me for information about the hearing and at that point it was absolutley evident she hadn't "reviewed emails and worked on my case" like her invoice claimed. We lost that hearing and i lost my custody to false accusations and zero evidence. It only gets worse. She demanded another $3,000 to continue and through extreme hesitation i gave it to her. From that point on she went absolutely silent. She wouldn't return a phone call, text, email, nothing. I left messages at her office and on her cell and nothing. This went on for days and days and I finally had to retain another attorney becuase she was just missing. Then after telling me she completely understood why I retained another attorney and admitted she dropped the ball on my case, SHE KEPT THE OTHER $3,000! This wasn't money invoiced for services rendered but rather advance pay to bill off from. When I asked for my $ back that was the last i heard from her. Literally for months now she refuses to return a call, an email, a text, nothing. Just like when she was working for me. Absolute silence. Why wouldn't a professional at least return an email and explain why they feel they should keep the money or at least send an invoice with a breakdown of expenses? Only a thief would do that. She is just not a professional and I should file a grievance against her.

Spousal Support Modification

Ann-Marie not only took my initial call to seek assistance, but gave me great advice and sprang into action. Not only would I recommend her, but I will be calling her again for anything else I may need in this area of law.

One of the VERY BEST of her field

When in need of a divorce lawyer, I turned to a business associate whom I trusted. Ann Marie Okros’ name was highly recommended. From the moment I contacted her, I sensed her compassion. She was competent over the phone and reassuring. She asked many questions before she agreed to handle my ca...se. Ms. Okros handled my divorce efficiently and promptly, with the utmost dignity and class. Her communication skills are excellent. She has a great combination of qualities which make her the perfect choice if you want the best. Ms. Okros knows how to handle any and all issues that precipitate divorce. She has a very professional demeanor and is very thorough, yet has a heart of gold. Her courtroom presence is confident and respectful. She is fair, but fights for what is right. She went to bat for me and I cannot say how very much I appreciate everything she did during such a stressful and difficult time. I have recommended Ms. Okros to others and they have been equally pleased.

worst

Always late! She has been continually unprepared and unresponsive. She is unfamiliar with processes. She made me feel secure in stating I could do certain things and then I found out that I was unable to do those things.

Do not use this attorney

Ann Marie Okros was late for every court date that we had. Failed to give me information until the date of court. Seemed as though she always had something better to do then help me. It seemed as though she did not listen when I was trying to tell her what was going on through the divorce and post d...ivorce. I think that she was about getting more money than what was right for her client. If we are suppose to be at a court date that started at 8:30 she would not walk into the court house until 9:30-10am but every bill I received from her office started her time at 8:30am. I think that I could of doen better in my divorce if I would of went with another attorney.
