Do Not Hire This Attorney for any matters.

Attorney, Phil Vera is an incompetent attorney. *He is out of the office more than he is in. *He failed to send documents. Documents I should have received after I hired him, I received 3 months later. After I hired a new attorney, the documents he forwarded were incomplete. *I forwarded te...xt messages that were vital to my divorce case. He never responded. *After 3-4 months of dealing with Mr. Vera, I stated "I felt like he was working for the other side. Not ME"! He was so offended he withdrew as my attorney. I never felt like he had my back. Also, I stated "Phil, you are on vacation more than you are in the office". He said , "I haven't been on vacation in a long time"! However, the week I hired him which was on a Tuesday, he told me he and his wife were going to Vegas on Thursday for a long weekend getaway. He had NO response to that. *I told him at the time I hired him that I am not computer savvy, and I could not access my email. He tried to help me fix that problem, but he couldn't figure out the problem either. But, I did not received any standard mail regarding my case. He totally ignored everything I said. *When I complained about him, he called me "Childish"! Does that sound like a professional attorney that my money is paying for his services? All in all, Phil Vera should not be allowed to practice law...anywhere in type of case. Again, DO NOT HIRE PHIL VERA!

Not professional

Very Unprofessional. After we met and started all of our paperwork, and emailed us the information, he stopped picking up his phone or answer his emails. to the point I thought something happened to him. if you don't want our business, just simply send an email and say that. we were professional eno...ugh that we waited. then we went and found our own attorney.

Very unhappy with this attorney

I hired Phil to represent me in my divorce. I had to ask for updates- and I had to constantly go back and forth fighting for things HE should have fought for. In the end, I received a copy of my final divorce papers WEEKS later. And he never helped me or informed me how to sign up for child support,... etc.

Jennifer, I am very sorry you were not satisfied with your divorce process. When a client confronts me with an issue in their case and I in turn contact the opposing counsel to discuss that issue and we are unable to reach a resolution on that issue, we have to take action by litigating the issue which may include going to trial over. A Client can severely tie an attorneys hands when it comes to litigating an issue by disallowing the matter to get escalated and in turn become more expensive. In some cases, especially when mediation is involved, the final language of the judgment of divorce may go back and forth till we have an agreement. That will delay the entry of the judgment. As soon as I receive the entered judgment of divorce from the court or opposing counsel, my office always sends copies to our client. The client may also choose to pick the documents up any time, if they wish. If there was any sort of delay, let alone weeks delay, it was simply because we did not have the documents. Further, a judgment of divorce is not the only thing that is filed with the court in cases involving minor children. Barring unusual circumstances, a uniform child support order is also entered. This is a document that we go always go over at the end of the case. Once entered, the friend of the court may take weeks and sometimes months to begin the withholding and payment of child support. This is something the attorneys can not control. Please contact me if you wish to discuss things further. Once again, I am truly sorry you were not satisfied. I do everything in my ability to make sure my clients are satisfied at the end of their case.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
