After getting backed into a corner and being repeatedly demoralized in court, my ex-wife had nowhere left to go other than losing to us at trial. She folded and gave in to the custody and parenting time arrangement that I had initially asked for (the one that she had initially rejected), plus I was awarded a few other concessions. At the outset of my case, my daughter had been residing in Michigan with the family of her paternal father for quite some time, while I had been residing in Indiana. The child’s father and his orig...inal attorney initiated the custody case with a sneak attack. I contacted many family law attorneys in the Macomb County area inquiring about how to win primary physical custody of our daughter, and how to have her primary residence moved to Indiana with me. Dennis sent out subpoenas, interrogatories, requests to admit, and requests for documents to Father’s attorney, and to Father’s witnesses. Dennis and I conducted our own private investigations to get every piece of evidence available to support my case. Dennis conducted days of depositions, we gradually dismantled Father’s theories about the case. We caused Father and his witnesses to severely incriminate Father about important facts related to the case, and we shattered the credibility of his witnesses. Dennis engaged in hours of legal research with regard to the complicated aspects of my case. Dennis attacked Father and his attorney procedurally with motion after motion, outsmarting the other side and fighting for every inch to get us in the best position for trial. When Father repeatedly refused to comply with discovery and violated court orders, Dennis was able to get the judge to sanction Father to pay portions of my costs and legal fees. At the start of this case, Father and his attorney treated the case as an easy win for them. However, as the court case went on, and Father was handed one procedural loss after another, his morale began to weaken. At trial Dennis and I appeared with an extensive, organized trial brief, boxes of materials, exhibit binders, deposition transcripts, and demonstrative diagrams outlining our theory of the case. On the day of trial, Father folded and stipulated to 50/50 custody! About a year later, we started the case again, and Dennis and I were back in action. Again, Dennis did a complete analysis and intake regarding all of the factual updates to my case. We went to mediation highly prepared with the goal of persuading the mediator, Father, and his attorney that Father was going to have no chance against us at trial. And that is exactly what happened! Father eventually conceded and signed a consent order in my favor. I was finally able to achieve my ultimate goal of gaining primary physical custody of my daughter in Indiana, particularly during the school year. Dennis had a very deliberate, complex, and long-term strategy from the start. It was difficult to be patient, but we stayed the course, trusted the plan, and a little over two years, it paid off. I am a mother of three children.  Before I hired attorney Dennis Germain in my divorce case, I was stuck in a hole of which I thought there was no way out.   My ex-husband had strong armed himself into control over all of the marital finances, essentially destroying my credit, and placing me at his m...ercy with regard to basic financial needs; he had carried out a long complicated plan where he tricked me out of the marital home under the guise that he was selling it (yet he never actually did); he gained control over my involvement with our children (the same children that I raised as the primary homemaker); and he carefully coordinated a scenario that caused me to look crazy and helpless, by most objective observers on initial review, who did not know me.   In other words, he set the stage for me to be fighting with my hands tied behind my back.  He had ALL of the cards, ALL of the power, ALL of the finances, and a very believable story on his side.  I had NOTHING … only who I knew who I was but had lost somewhere in the process. He went through the facts piece by piece and began to unravel my ex-husband’s elaborate plan.  Dennis got in touch with witnesses (police officers, the real estate agent, military retirement experts, expert custody and mental health professionals, neighbors, etc.).  Dennis obtained affidavits, sent out subpoenas, sent out endless piles of discovery requests, and WOULD NOT STOP until my ex-husband provided every single document, and answered every single question under oath that Dennis requested.  Dennis filed document after document with the Court, gradually moving me to a better position.  He was able to get me an acceptable temporary monthly spousal support while the case was pending.   Ultimately he was able to organize the facts and financial data in organized spreadsheets to where I could make a better educated financial decision in the matter (something I was previously unable to do, because I was blocked access to such information from an ex-spouse being a bully). In the end, I was awarded a good custody arrangement where I am now again involved in our children’s lives like I am supposed to be and want to be, I was awarded spousal support, I was awarded child support that will increase as time goes on. I was awarded substantial portions of my ex-husband’s military pension, his federal pension, and virtually all of his federal thrift savings plan.  Dennis drafted an impenetrable judgment of divorce, of which I have had to enforce on multiple occasions, as my ex has had a difficult time letting go of his bullying tactics, and with Dennis’s consistent help and knowledge of the law, helped me fight and win consistently.  Dennis helped me out from under a miserable, hopeless, oppressive financial arrangement, to where I gained financial independence, am working, and going to school. I am in my children’s lives, moving forward in my future, and even getting a new home! You would probably not believe my story and it would take hours for you to fully understand it ...
