Biography
Lori K. Smith is a fierce and results-driven advocate, known for her aggressive yet strategic approach to Domestic Relations law. With a Bachelor of Business Administration from Walsh College (2003) and a Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (2008), Ms. Smith brings a sharp legal mind and relentless determination to every case she handles.
Practicing exclusively in the area of Family Law, Ms. Smith has earned a reputation for being a tough litigator who fights tenaciously for her clients whether in complex custody disputes, high-conflict divorces, or enforcement actions. Her prior experience in civil litigation and criminal defense adds depth to her courtroom skillset and enhances her ability to anticipate and counter opposing strategies.
Ms. Smith completed the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) Family Law Certificate Program in 2010 and continues to uphold her certification, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to excellence in family law.
She is actively involved in the legal community, maintaining membership with the Women Lawyer’s Association of Michigan, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, as well as the Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne County Family Law sections.
A proven leader, Ms. Smith is the former President of the Macomb County Bar Association, the Macomb County Bar Foundation, and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan: Macomb Region. She currently serves as President of the Friends of the Macomb County Veterans Treatment Court and the Macomb County Mental Health Treatment Court Charitable Foundation, and is Treasurer of the Macomb County Bar Foundation.
Beyond the courtroom, Ms. Smith’s passion for advocacy continues through her service on the Board of Directors for the Macomb Humane Society, the Advisory Council for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen’s Jefferson House, and as a volunteer with Miss Amazing – Michigan Chapter. She also coaches an adaptaive softball team.

Did not answer questions honestly. Led me to believe I had a good case. Paid $5000 retainer fee. Charged me for every email sent to her.
