Aaron David Hanke

Aaron Hanke is an associate attorney with the Carthew Law Firm, P.C. Mr. Hanke practices in the areas of contracts and business litigation, real estate and construction transactions, and estate planning. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a judicial law clerk for Circuit Court Judge Michael J. Beale in Midland, and Circuit Court Judges Scott P. Hill-Kennedy and Ronald C. Nichols in Big Rapids. 

At the age of 19, Mr. Hanke received his undergraduate degree from Oakland University, graduating cum laude with a major in Journalism and a minor in history. Three years later, Mr. Hanke received his law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, graduating in the top 10 percent of his class. In March of 2011, he was featured in the Michigan Lawyers Weekly as the second youngest active attorney in Michigan, and one of about 60 in Michigan history to have graduated from law school and passed the Michigan bar exam at the age of 22.

While in law school, Mr. Hanke completed an externship with Federal District Judge Gerald E. Rosen and an internship with former Michigan Supreme Court Justice Maura D. Corrigan. He was also a member of moot court and law review. Mr. Hanke’s law review article, An Extreme Makeover: Why Michigan’s Judicial Recusal Standards Needed Reconstruction and Why More Work Remains to be Done, 88 U. Det. Mercy L. Rev. 97 (2011), was chosen for publication. He was also awarded the Edward H. Rakow Scholarship for outstanding achievement in business Law by the Federal Bar Association for the Eastern District of Michigan.
