Paul Thomas Tylenda

I was charged with two felonies back in 2015, and my attorney at the time was Paul Tylenda. Based on our initial meeting, I had reason to believe he would be a good choice to represent me. Well, come time for my probably cause hearing, AND my preliminary exam- Mr Tylenda did NOT show up to represent ...me. Instead, I had to have an attorney who had worked on a case right before mine represent me. And yes... I paid Mr Tylenda for the services he DID provide, but when he decided to not arrive to BOTH of my court dates, I felt there was absolutely nothing he should’ve been paid for besides obtaining the discovery. The only hearing he was not late for was the motion I had filed for early release from probation. That one he managed to be present for... gotta show up for that last court date to make the claim that you represented me to your best ability, I guess? I look back on this, five years later, and realize that I was too young to have allowed this attorney to take advantage of my time & naivety. If this had happened again, I simply would have just not paid him at all.

I was sentenced to Macomb County Jail. Now my exact sentence was very confusing because of the unprofessionalism of the Prosecutor and Court Clerks yelling and cursing at my Defense Attorney at the time (Court Appointed). I was released from Jail on Probation 12 days later. After 9 months of repor...ting to Probation and paying over a thousand dollars in restitution, my Probation Officer calls me and tells me I need to turn myself in to do a year in the county jail and that there was a clerical error! I called Paul Tylenda and did not turn myself in. I went to Court and got a Date set. Paul was more than helpful and in communicating my situation and is still working on a solution to my case. I will update the out come of yet another mess up by Macomb County Courts.
