I’ve been practicing law for approximately 34 years. It has always been important to me to bring distinctive value, imagination, and quality work to my clients. I have represented as a corporate attorney and advised executives of major Fortune 500 corporations, hospital systems, large Tier 1 and Tier... 2 automotive suppliers, and a variety of middle market companies. I have also represented numerous small businesses that include non-profit organizations, minority owned businesses and women owned businesses. I have served as a special master and expert witness in mediating disputes over supplier diversity business transactions. This experience makes me a subject matter expert in supplier diversity. Over the last 15 years, I have managed a law firm dedicated to advancing the cause of creating wealth through the development of minority owned and women owned businesses. In that connection, I have become recognized as a respected strategist and advocate for minority owned and women owned businesses. In this capacity, I have assisted more than a hundred minority owned and women owned businesses to become certified by affiliate councils of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (the “NMSDC”) and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council all over the country. I was disappointed to see that one of my former clients failed to receive their certification. During the past fifteen years, to my knowledge, I have never failed to follow through and achieve certification for any of my clients. From time to time, questions arise that delay certification. Never, however, have I experienced an outright rejection, because we normally can resolve the concerns of the certifying entity. In this case, it appears that my client decided to handle the concerns of certification on their own. Consequently, I could not be held responsible for a negative result. Leamon Sowell, Esq.

We asked Leamon to help re-draft a Shareholder's agreement that would represent our practice and (most importantly) help us certify as a Women's Owned Business (WBE). He claims to specialize in this area and came recommended to us. We are a company 100% owned by a woman, but were denied certificati...on because of the shareholder agreement that he produced. We wasted the legal fees on him, lost the application fees, must wait 6 months and will re-apply without his help later this year. Do not use him. He was more interested in selling us on future consulting work than helping us with our immediate issue. His timelines and responsiveness was also a major concern.
