DO NOT HIRE THIS ATTORNEY( MONEY HUNGRY)

I hired her to defend me and all once she got paid, I couldn't get on the phone to discuss my case. She kept showing up to court late and doing nothing. She never talked to me about my case so that when I was in court I left out more confused than when I went in.

DO NOT HIRE THIS ATTORNEY

She has poor communication (until it comes to discussions - frequent - about money) and she does not take the time to explain what is actually happening with your case. She quoted me $5,000 (after my initial $2,500 retainer) fee through Trial - which was dismissed, then remanded back to District Cou...rt. Instead of me having any sort of "credit" since we didn't proceed to Trial, she instead charged me another retainer fee of $2,500. The very first court date, which was a "Preliminary Examination," of the Claimant against me, she had her assistant phone me at 8:50 p.m., the night before to say she was bound over in another Trial and could not attend my hearing the next morning. I guess she didn't know she couldn't make it before 9 p.m.? She essentially sent me to Court without representation, this being after the Judge warned of no more adjournments under any circumstance! Thankfully, the Prosecutor (this one time) asked the Judge to postpone the hearing, knowing I had no counsel to represent me and they agreed. It was at that point, I retained new counsel. I requested Ms. White - now Ms. Gray, refund my money (at the very least, the 2nd retainer fee in good faith, since she essentially did nothing to help my case (she did not even file a Letter of Deviation to ask the Prosecutor to reduce the charges (first offense and the charges were ridiculous, for example, one was a Misdemeanor "Malicious Destruction of Personal Property" for a potted plant that was kicked off the porch - the very first thing my new Attorney did). I then asked her for a detailed statement of where my money was spent and she refused to give me an hourly rate, stating only that she "earned every penny" . She "threw" together 14 pgs. of ramblings with inaccurate dates (the very date of the letter preceded my request but included my demeanor and how I would be crying or angry at the hearings - in an attempt to take the heat off of herself and make it look like she was dealing with a difficult client. As I read through it, I found it comical the way she would overstate what she went through with me but shied away from what the "actual charge" was. The records I kept did not match up. In the end, I paid $9,600 to end up hiring another attorney to clean up a mess that drug on for 19 months!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
