Rod’s thorough knowledge of courts,nonprofit corporations, and closely held businesses arises from nearly 20 yearsof successful leadership and service, including the Michigan Supreme Court andmultimillion-dollar corporations where he earned a reputation for employingclient retention strategies that build loyalty and enhance attorney-clientrelationships.
Rod was bornand raised in Detroit, Michigan where he graduated from Thomas M. Cooley HighSchool. After high school Rodserved three (3) tours of duty in the United States Marines, where hevolunteered for several special assignments and received numerous decorationsand honors.
After his militaryservice Rod returned to Detroit where he completed a bachelor’s degree incriminal justice/psychology at Wayne State University. Prior to that, Rod majored in AsianStudies at the University of Maryland’s Asian Division, where became proficientin several languages. Rod did hisgraduate studies at the University of Toledo and earned a law degree fromThomas M. Cooley Law School. Rodis also a graduate of the Midwest Academy, a leading national traininginstitute that advances movements for social change by teaching a strategic,rigorous, results-oriented approach to social action and organizationbuilding. Further, Rod isRegistered Securities Representative with FINRA (formerly NASD) as well as alicensed Financial Services Professional and Investment Advisor.
Rod bringsnearly two-dozen years of dynamic and progressively more expansive managementexperience, which includes successfully leading hundreds of mission stafftoward organizational objectives. Rod has spent well over a dozen years of his professional career in theservice of underserved, delinquent, abused, and neglected children whom hecontinues to serve as an Attorney and a community volunteer.
In additionto successfully managing several human service programs, most recently, Rod servedas a technical consultant to the Michigan Department of Community Health andhas directed the development, maintenance, and enhancement of relationships with local, state, andfederal law and policymakers on behalf of the School-Community Health Allianceof Michigan, a statewide membership organization committed to ensuring that allof Michigan’s children have access to affordable and comprehensive primaryhealthcare.
