Great lawyer

He took my case to sue an insurance company. He was very intelligent and he took his time to help me and to explain what was going on in depth. He returned my calls very fast. I hired him to be my lawyer and he did an amazing job. He examined my case very well and was sure to gather all the informati...on he thought was necessary. He is sure to get the job done.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I endorse this lawyer. Doug has been opposing counsel to me in a number of cases over the years. Of course we don't always see eye-to eye on all the issues, but he is always professional and reasonable to work with. In my experience he has demonstrated that he is knowledgeable of property insurance legal issues."

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Without hesitation, I endorse Douglas McCray. I have worked with Doug as the parties’ mutually agreed to Mediator/Facilitator on several of his pending property damage cases. Doug is always exceptionally prepared and is equally ready to settle the case or proceed to trial as circumstances warrant. The highest compliment I could give Doug is that if I had a property damage dispute against an insurance company I would retain him to represent my interests in that dispute."

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"Doug McCray and I have been on opposite sides of insurance cases for more than ten years. He is a smart, knowledgeable insurance attorney, and a formidable opponent. I have seen Doug passionately represent his clients in briefs, during depositions and at oral argument. Although we are on opposite sides, Doug is always civil and demonstrates the utmost professionalism. I endorse him without reservation."

Sample of Legal Cases

Murad Management v Hastings Mutual Insurance Company

Favorable Settlement

Smith v. State Farm Fire and Cas. Co., 737 F. Supp. 2d 702 (E.D. Mich. 2010)

Policyholders won, and were allowed to have their amount of loss dispute decided by appraisal, not by State Farm.

McNeel v. Farm Bureau General Insurance Company of Michigan, 289 Mich App 76 (2010)

The policyholder won, and its claim was paid (along with interest and some attorney fees). The Court of Appeals issued an extremely favorable opinion which because it is "published" is binding on lower level courts any time the same issues arise.

Johnson v. State Farm, Mich Ct. App. 271779 (Feb. 22, 2007)

Plaintiff defeated defendant's attempt to bar claim based on statute of limitations and the case subsequently resolved favorably.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
