Thomas M. Spackey

I have been practicing law and specializing in divorce and family law for more than twenty years.  I am a graduate of the Detroit College of Law and member of the State Bar of Michigan.  My specialty, family law has proven very satisfying.  I am appreciative of all of the positive feedback from clients.  I serve the Livingston, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. 

My undergraduate degree in Business Management was where I became fascinated with the study of law. An introductory class in business law piqued my fascination.  The love and respect I experienced for the legal profession remains with me today.  I see law as a force for good, fairness, and justice.  This is evidenced with excellent results in cases involving: divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, spousal support, and property settlements. 

In my personal life and current law practice, I see the anxiety and confusion experienced by clients seeking divorce.  My value system dictates that I make the process as painless as possible.  I strive to resolve cases peacefully with out-of-court settlements where possible to save clients time and money and to minimize the damage done to families in what is a difficult and stressful time.  However, I am prepared and able to litigate effectively on my client’s behalf should the need arise.  I stay current and knowledgeable in all areas of family law. I attend family law conferences three times a year and have been invited to attend the Family Court Forum, sponsored by the Family Law Section of the State Bar.

When I meet with a client we discuss what their specific goals are and I explain their legal rights.  Then together we determine the best course of action to take in their particular case.
