I would give 0 stars if possible. Martin charged me $1000 for a consultation in 2018, did not tell me I could be receiving free legal assistance from U of M as a student, and once I found out I could have free legal assistance since I was a student, he refused to give any of the money back even thoug...h he did not help me at all. His office is located in the center of downtown Ann Arbor. The two possibilities — for him to not have known this information that students receive free legal assistance or for him to have withheld this information on purpose — are both bad. I feel like he took advantage of me and I do not recommend Martin E. Blank AKA Marty to anyone.

This Client was referred to me as a local attorney with 40 years experience. A fee was quoted to handle pre-arrest matters and he was told additional fees would be charged depending on any charges that came down. After several conferences with client and contact with law enforcement Client was not charged during this attorney's representation. This attorney communicated with investigating law enforcement and insulated client from interviews and other contact with law enforcement. Client's review 8-years later is surprising..

Clown

Where to begin. Right off the bat he was trying to scare me by claiming there this booklet he had said there are all these enhancements that would make my charge punishable by something like 2 decades (in reality I ended up with a year of probation and 180$ fine). He kept postponing the hearings f...or no viable reason. We would show up for the hearing and sit there for hours and the when it was our turn we’d stand at the podium and he’d ask for an extension or postponement. The judge would suggest a date and he would flip thru a blank appointment book and although the entire page for that date was blank he would say no I’m too busy on that day. Again and again, he did the same thing. Also every time we showed up in court he’s pretend that he was trying to negotiate with the prosecutor and play these weird games lke have me sit across the room and wait for a hand signal from him letting me know if there was a deal or no deal. I eventually got suspicious as it looked as tho he was just back slapping, laughing and joking with the prosecutor but then would come back and say he’s really out to get you. So I had someone sit behind the prosecutor and listen to their conversation. Not only did the prosecutor never say anything about wanting to make an example of me, MB never mention me or my case, after months and months of this I, in flustered desperation, said is there some way to just pay some sort of fine and get this over with. Then when he thought I had disposable income, he immediately tried to get me to pay his friend to do a polygraph, knowing full well they weren’t admisable in court. He also made it a point anytime we weee in the courtroom or hallway within earshot of the other party to repeatedly say “these people are gonna sue you you” over and over making sure they heard it. He clearly thought he was a shoe in to represent me in that event. It was quite obvious why he was doing it. All in all he was slippery, weasel-y man who I found to be completely untrustworthy.

This review is from representation at least 5-years ago. While I cannot be sure who the client is, it appears that he or she was charged with a felony and had a prior criminal record that the sentencing guides for the state of Michigan would enhance to a long term in prison. Also from the review it appears that this attorney obtained plea deal that resulted in a short term of probation. The remainder of the review seems odd and likely a misinterpretation by a nervous client. When accepting a criminal case, I take a set fee covering all matters except trial. So if, as stated by the client, we went to court numerous times for hours each time, this was not for the benefit of the attorney; it meant more time spent for the same fee. What it demonstrates is persistence to obtain the final good result for the client; a short term of probation rather than a term in prison that was being requested by the prosecutor

Great attorney

Over the years, Martin Blank has handled several legal matters for me and my family, including civil litigation, wills and estates and real estate. Hard working, honest, fair minded and very reasonable fees. We have been so satisfied with his professionalism, work ethic and work product that we hav...e referred him to many friends and family members. The referral topics have included an even broader range of representation, including DUI, drivers license restoration, divorce and criminal, and the people referred have always thanked us for the great work provided. Regardless of the job, the person you want working for you is someone you feel confident about referring to those closest to you, and we couldn't have any more confidence than we have with Martin Blank.

I would highly recommend Marty Blank, attorney

Mr Blank has been absolutely outstanding in handling a difficult and complex divorce for my mother, bringing it to a favorable resolution in short order. He is unusual in keeping a client fully informed of all circumstances, and gives/shares immediate copies of all pleadings in a case. His fees are... precise, and he attempts to keep "billable hours" to a minimum. He is knowledgable and intuitive, and is also good with negotiation. Mr. Blank handled my own difficult divorce many years ago, and was equally effective in resolving it. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Outstanding Attorney

I used Mr. Blank to help me get my drivers license back and he was a great attorney. Kept me informed every step of the way. I would definately recommend him & would use him again if needed for other things.
