Terrible experience with Ron Mac Kool at Hakim, Toma & Yaldoo. Total lack of professionalism, honesty, and communication.

Today's Date: Sunday, September 6, 2026 Subject: Terrible experience with Ron Mac Kool at Hakim, Toma & Yaldoo. Total lack of professionalism, honesty, and communication. I initially consulted with Ron Mac Kool on December 10, 2025 at 2:35 pm (See attached business card) , regarding an urgent l...egal matter. I presented him with evidence obtained from the City Freedom of Information Act, such as call/dispatch logs , dispatch audio, police lobby footage and emails to dispute the false police report. He believe that the City framed me for something I didn't do. He said that's how the City always operated because he used to be employed there. At the time, I could not afford representation. However, after recently winning a separate lawsuit, I re-contacted him on August 17, 2026, with the financial means to retain his firm immediately via a guaranteed attorney lien. On August 17, 2026 around 4:38 pm, Ron explicitly agreed to the lien arrangement for $3500 flat fee up until trial during our phone calls and promised to coordinate the details with my other firm. He said that trials are are a lot of work. During our conversation, he openly stated that the City of Roseville and Eastpoint was a "good ole boys club" and "shady" from his time working there. He said he remembered talking to me a year ago and he said , "the case was complicated because it felt like the City was against you and those types of cases can be complicated". Despite knowing that my current court-appointed attorneys were severely mishandling my case and suppressing evidence, he dragged his feet. What followed was a string of broken promises, ignored messages, and outright lies: August 18–24: My other attorney reached out to Ron. Ron ignored him, later claiming he needed "firm owner permission"—a constraint he never mentioned to me. August 28 at 2:07 pm: After I followed up, Ron called me and lied, claiming he had already left me a voicemail and accepted the lien (which my other attorney confirmed was false). When I informed him that the city attorney was attempting to extort me into dropping civil rights complaints in exchange for dismissing my case, Ron shady-ly told me I should just agree to it, completely failing to defend my rights. He promised to call me back at 4:00 PM that day and never did. August 31: I called again at 10:08 am. He picked up for 14 seconds, claimed he was in court, promised to call back, and ghosted me again. As a disabled African American woman in desperate need of an independent, dedicated attorney to protect my constitutional rights, I was entirely misled. Ron Mac Kool made empty promises, lied about his communication, and ultimately proved too fearful to stand up to the very "good old boys club" he used to be a part of. Avoid this firm if you need an attorney who actually possesses integrity and fights for their clients.
