Melissa Demorest LeDuc

I am a business and real estate attorney with more than 20 years of experience representing Michigan companies, property owners, and family-owned businesses. My practice includes business formation, mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate transactions, employment matters, contract drafting and negotiation, and estate planning. I also serve as outside general counsel to a wide range of small businesses, providing practical guidance on daily operations and long-term strategy.

I have significant experience in the hospitality and multifamily industries, including representing clients in multimillion-dollar acquisitions and sales of hotels, apartment complexes, restaurants, and other operating businesses. In addition, I handle much of my firm’s appellate work and take pride in providing clear, solutions-oriented representation.

I am actively involved in my profession and community, serving on the City of Birmingham Board of Ethics and holding leadership roles within Primerus and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. My work has been recognized with honors such as Michigan Super Lawyers (2024–2025), Corp! Magazine’s Most Valuable Professional (2025), Michigan Lawyers’ Weekly Go-To Business Lawyer (2022), and Women in the Law honoree (2021).

I graduated cum laude from Wayne State University Law School and hold a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan. I am admitted to practice in all Michigan courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

My goal in every matter—whether a business deal, real estate transaction, or estate plan—is to provide thoughtful, efficient, and trustworthy counsel grounded in each client’s unique needs.
