Ryan Caleb Ballard

Mr. Ryan Ballard practices in criminal defense, professional licensure and employment law throughout southern Indiana.

CRIMINAL DEFENSE, MEDICAID FRAUD, PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE

Prior to private practice, Mr. Ballard interned for a year with the New Albany division of the Indiana Attorney General's  Medicaid Fraud Unit. In this position, he developed expertise in Medicaid Fraud and Professional Licensing defense, particuarly before the Indiana Nursing Board. Often such issues run concurrently with misdemenors and felonies, or, can graduate into such if the agency attorney decides to present their evidence to the county or federal prosecutor. These charges can relate general charges such as drug possession, theft, elder abuse, however, when they occur within a medical facility and by a medical professional, medicaid fraud can also be apinged to the counts. It is important to understand how criminal charges can effect your professional licensure when addressing the charges in court, particuarly the charge of medicaid fraud. 

Often a properly written letter can persuade the investigators or agency attorneys to close the case. Depending on the evidence and employment records, however, the agency may move forward. You need an attorney who understands how this unit works in order to protect your license. Indiana administrative professional licensure hearing occur approximately once a month in Indianapolis.

EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION AND EEOC

Mr. Ballard also has expertise in EEOC representation. His drafted charges have been accepted into the EEOC, and persuaded EEOC investigators that an indepth investagation is warranted.

In order for a draft to be accepted by the EEOC, the drafted charge must contain particular information. Mr. Ballard has a thorugh understanding of such information and is knowledgable of the EEOC's current litigation goals. He understands the types of cases that the EEOC is most interested in pursuing. This information enables Mr. Ballard to draft highly effective charges for clients. Once the client is in the EEOC process, Mr. Ballard is competent to represent them through the administrative hurdles, hopefully resolving the issue at the administrative level. If not, Mr. Ballard can assist clients with obtaining a right to sue letter and filing in federal court.

Mr. Ballard has received the American Bar Association for Excellence in Employment Law, served as president of the UofL Labor and Employment Law student group, has published articles on employment discrimination issues and has presented on numerous employment law issues.
