I needed a lawyer because I had been hit by a truck running a stoplight. My injuries were severe: on my left side I had a broken collar bone which never healed, nine broken ribs, broken pelvis, and my lung was punctured. My brain took a beating as well. I also shattered my right wrist and surgery ...was performed. I now have a plate with six screws in my right wrist. Recovery was long and I will always have residual issues from my accident. Even though the other person admitted to running the stoplight, the insurance company did not want to give me appropriate compensation. We had never needed a lawyer before so my husband and I began by interviewing several lawyers. They had to come to our home because I was in a hospital bed in the middle of our living room. What we liked about Rick was his honesty, he seemed to understand us, and he walked us through the process step by step, as we had never experienced anything like this before. We were totally ignorant of the procedures, time table, and what would be expected of us. This seemed like a pretty cut and dried case but it wasn't. Rick and his assistant were so good at keeping us informed, answering our questions, responding to our emails and phone calls quickly, and being patient and encouraging through the whole process. We didn't realize how my past medical history would be used against me by the opposing client, yet Rick continued to encourage us and tell us this was not unusual. We were so thankful for his counsel and the fact that he wasn't going to just settle for the sake of settling. When the other side wasn't really being serious during mediation, Rick didn't waist anymore time with the situation. We moved forward. We were able to settle and not go to trial but Rick always prepared us as if we were going to trial. I am so thankful that did not happen and for Rick's expertise and persistence in getting our case settled outside of the courtroom. God led us to Rick and blessed us with his help as well as his assistant, Emily. We will be forever grateful for what he has done for us!
