DON't hire Zach Phillips! Horrible!! Don't waste your time or money (and you'd better have lots of it) with him. I had a consult with Zach for an emancipation and modification of child support. He made my case sound wonderful and even laughed at a few of the facts I had given him about the case. Well..., I thought there was plenty of time to prepare for court and after talking to Zach he said the same thing. That was the goal. I called a month after paying the retainer to see why I hadn't heard back from Zach or anyone else in the office about my case, since we were supposed to handle this out of court. The lady who answered the phone said "they usually contact you about 2 weeks before your court date". In my mind I'm thinking, "why?" Why would you wait that long?" I should've went with my gut right then when I thought about cancelling with Zach to retain another lawyer. I still regret that! I finally hear from Zach's office, by email, (that's the only way of contact with him) they wanted my income info. I had questions so I called, he nor his assistant were available to I left a message. No one returned my call. A week later his assistant calls me to ask where my income info is. I told her I had called with questions but hadn't heard back from anyone. She asked when I called and I told her the week before. My court date comes and since it was 30 minutes before the scheduled hearing time and I still hadn't heard back I called the office to ask what's going on? I was given login info for a video hearing and just as I get logged in their office calls and says my ex's attorney just faxed over his paperwork so the hearing is being continued. Wow!! Really? This is why you shouldn't wait 2 weeks before the court date to get the information together. This cost me more money! This "easy emancipation and modification of child support" which my ex and I agreed on for the most part, ended up going to court and was finalized 3 months after the original court date. Zach never called me, not once during the entire duration of this matter. When we had our phone/video hearing I couldn't get online so I called the office to ask how to get into the video portion. Neither Zach nor his assistant were there to talk to me or help me, I wasn't surprised! When the hearing started I didn't even know which attorney was speaking. No joke! I didn't know my own attorney's voice! Listening to Zach during the hearing I thought to myself, "are you working for me or my ex?" I feel I was taken advantage of and I feel I over paid this lawyer way too much money. There is no compassion from Zach, in my opinion. When you're paying high prices for representation, wouldn't it be nice to distinguish your attorneys voice from your ex's? And no! This case did not end the way I had hoped.

I am very thankful and pleased with my reduced sentencing for a DUI in Johnson county. I didn’t have to complete an entire year of probation. Zach worked with me through every court hearing. He explained everything, gave me options and sound advice. He was very professional with the judges and distri...ct attorneys.
